With virtues of his natural flair in writing lyrics in his vernacular and setting them in his own composed tune, a good volume of attractive songs came out of the hands of Sanjay in his early youth. Famous vocalists like Asha Bhonslay, Manna Dey, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hariharan, Radhid Khan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjewalla, Sunidhi Chauhanas well as his elder brother Ajoy Chakrabarty had sung many of his compositions. During this period Sanjay came in close contact with immortal composers like Salil Chowdhury and Rahuldeb Burman.

It was in the year of 1994 when we had the brilliant comments in the lips of legendary composers for Sanjay Chakrabarty when Sanjay was only 30:

Salil Chowdhury : “Sanjay lives and breathes music – a rare thing to be found today.”

Rahuldeb Burman : “My request to his elder brother Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty that he should accord his fondest care to all the creations of Sanjay, his lyrics and tunes.”

Again in the year of 1995 onwards Sanjay received blessings from other luminaries of both Mumbai and Kolkata music horizon.

Manohari Singhji, the fabulous musician and music arranger, expressed his desire that Sanjay joins the Mumbai Film Industry to breathe new life into its creative woods letting the grasses be greener.

Asha Bhonslay, the vocal queen of India, observed – there are some rare traits of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib in Sanjay in reference to impromptu free walk criss-crossing his own musical compositions with their different styles of singing.

Manna Dey, the iconic singer, fell for the literature rich lovely compositions of Sanjay and wanted some for his own album.

Haimanti Sukhla, the respectable popular singer of Bengal, once told that Sanjay is an artiste of the artistes.

From the gamut of Sanjay’s compositions his elder brother Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty sang the larger part and Kavita Krishnamurthy some 25 songs. Besides, for last 3 decades so many established artistes of different generations from both Mumbai and Bengal sang one or more compositions of Sanjay. Amongst them from Asha Bhonslay to Sunidhi Chauhan, Ustad Rashid Khan to Raghab Chatpadhyay, Nachiketa Chakraborty to Sreeradha Bandopadhyay, Shaan to Sreekanta Acharya, Sreekumar Chattopadhyay to Kunal Ganjawala, – who are not there in the scenario !!!

The undeterred pen of Sanjay travels like flowing fountain over the different plateaus of human life and thoughts.
