Our great country, India has learnt to live basically being bathed with the holy waters of ‘devotion.’

Right from Hanumana of The Ramayana, Arjuna of The Mahabharata and Prahlad of The Bhagabat in the primitive age, the tradition of Bhakti Cult (Devotionalism) had been carried through the exponents of subsequent ages like Dadu, Nanak, Meera, Kabir, Shri Chaitanya, Ramprasad, Shri Ramakrishna and Lalan. These great souls and many more, who were less known or even lost in oblivion, were all far above any worldly wants or a publicity swing. They always remained in the pleasure of their own creations. This devotional mode was largely the prime stay of the Indian way of life of the bygone days.

Creativities of devotional songs and music, that came alive in our country over the ages, were so aplenty in diverse kinds and streams both in form and content that there seems to be no end of it.

Taking reference of huge variety of that devotional music tradition, the devotional compositions of ACHARYA SANJAY have been classified in some certain categories.

In his early days, ACHARYA SANJAY’s parents had a household band of KALI- KEERTAN (a certain tradition of devotional songs). They got inspired from two great saintly souls, Shri Shri Premananda Teerthaswamiji and Shri Shri Sadananda Brahmachariji who were the holy guide of their family and were opposed to any self-exposure.

This all together was the prime source of musical inspiration for ACHARYA SANJAY while in his gradual grooming up in their humble hutment at 20 Nagbagan Road, Shyamnagar of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. So no wonder that an inevitable urge for composing Devotional Songs and Music would push him from within subliminally and that it earned him a distinctive place of a Composer of Devotional Songs in the musical panorama of the land.
